about
Ceiling Fan was never intended to be the final title for the song. When the song was written, I had given myself a challenge to write a song in real time from beginning to end and play it live via Facebook Live w/o letting anyone else know what was happening . The camera on the phone was facing up with only the (drum roll, please) ceiling fan in attendance of the performance. When I tracked vocals on the song in the studio (maybe a year or two later?) I had forgotten the vocal melodies and I didn’t really have any concrete lyrics. So just like it’s origins, I made up completely new vocal melodies on the spot and used random lyrics from my notes app. So sometimes in your life, it’s just you and your ceiling fan.
lyrics
It’s always Mr. Brightside on karaoke night
You can’t love yourself, unless you take the time
You’ve got a face to crush on
La la la what a rush
You’ve got a face to crush on
have you had enough
Sunday tours inside glass houses
Architectural flaws
We’ve got Eternal claws
We need something to carry
Something extraordinary
Something to keep us grounded
But these rooms are often too crowded
Sunday tours/someday it’s yours
Sunday tours/someday it’s yours
Sunday tours
inside
You can’t love yourself
Unless you take the time
We need something to carry
Something extraordinary
We’ve got Eternal claws
It’s an eternal clause
