I searched through the demos for this song to see what year I wrote it and it looks like the earliest file name dates back to 2014. The song is about this person who seeks stronger friendships with those who call themselves "friends" of theirs. I don't know if I wrote this as a personal reflection but I can often relate to the protagonist of the story. Don't we all sometimes want our friends to call us out when it's necessary? And, when they don't - we find ourselves wondering how strong that friendship really is.
